Hydrotherapy
Feel the powerful therapeutic effects of water therapy
Hydrotherapy combines the unique properties of warm-water and clinical exercise prescription to achieve specific therapeutic goals.
Temperature
32-35 degrees is the optimum temperature for positive physiological changes in the body.
Hydrostatic pressure
Immersed in water the body experiences continuous inward forces, resulting in:
A shift in circulation and swelling from the limbs.
Reduction in sensory input mechanisms (pain modulating).
Buoyancy
Immersion in water produces varying degrees of weightlessness, reducing weight-bearing loads, allowing movements to be performed with more ease.
Viscosity and drag
Water is approximately 50x thicker than air. Water produces forces (hydrostatic resistance) that oppose motion.
Falling is slowed for balance training.
Movements are slower, allowing increased control.
Resistance force is provided for strength, power and endurance training.
